What Does Rand Paul Think America Owes Our Kurdish Allies by Staying in Syria?

It’s a question that the Kentucky senator and every American leader ought to answer.

In 2014, Republican senator Rand Paul of Kentucky was all over the map on what, if anything, the United States should do to stop the growing army of jihadists known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

In June 2014, after ISIS conquered Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city at the time, Paul was very skeptical of even using American air power against ISIS. Airstrikes against ISIS could turn America into “Iran’s air force,” Paul wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed titled, “America Shouldn’t Choose Sides in Iraq’s Civil War.”

As American public opinion changed, so did Paul’s policy toward U.S. involvement in the war against ISIS. As late as August 29, 2014, Paul still wasn’t sure if “ISIS is a threat to our national security.” But then Paul, who harbored presidential ambitions at the time, abruptly issued a statement saying that he would destroy ISIS militarily.

“Some pundits are surprised that I support destroying the Islamic State in Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) militarily. They shouldn’t be,” Paul wrote on September 4 in Time magazine. “If I had been in President Obama’s shoes, I would have acted more decisively and strongly against ISIS.” Many of Paul’s non-interventionist allies were baffled by his change of mind. “The sudden evaporation of Paul’s doubts reeks of political desperation,” wrote Jacob Sullum, a senior editor at the libertarian magazine Reason.

In 2015, Paul settled on a plan to defeat ISIS by arming the Kurds and promising them a country: “I think they would fight like hell if we promised them a country.”

The Kurds did fight like hell: 11,000 died fighting ISIS. But this week, President Trump decided it was not worth keeping 100 or fewer U.S. troops in northern Syria to deter a Turkish attack on America’s Kurdish allies. Rand Paul loudly cheered him on.

On Wednesday, I noted Paul’s 2015 comments about promising the Kurds their own country on the Corner, and on Thursday Senator Paul responded with a statement emailed by his communications director. “I did and still do support a homeland for the Kurds — in Iraq — anyone who conflates the Kurds in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran into one simple homogenous, easily solvable problem is either naive or disingenuous,” Paul said in the statement.

For the record, I never conflated the Kurds in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran “into one simple homogenous, easily solvable problem.” My post simply pointed out that Paul had gone from promising to reward the Kurds who would fight ISIS with their own country to cheering on a decision to merely move — but not bring home — 100 or fewer U.S. troops in order to enable Turkey’s plan to slaughter America’s Kurdish allies.

Senator Paul still supports a Kurdish homeland in Iraq, he says. But many of the Kurds who fought the

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria live in Syria, not just Iraq. What do we owe them?

Did we owe them better than abruptly pulling out 100 troops whose presence kept Turkey at bay? Does it really stand to reason that just because Turkey is a member of NATO we needed to do them a solid and abandon our battlefield allies who suffered more than 10,000 deaths in recent years in a war against one of America’s worst enemies?

Won’t abandoning the Kurds make it more difficult for America to recruit allies in the future to fight our enemies, undermining a key objective of interventionists and non-interventionists alike? Wouldn’t fulfilling Paul’s promise to help stand up a Kurdish country involve a much greater American commitment than keeping 100 U.S. troops in northern Syria?19

These are some of the questions I’d like to ask Senator Paul. His communications director told me Thursday she had passed along the interview request, but I haven’t heard back and doubt I will.

The Kentucky senator did find time Thursday to write on Twitter that the “bloodlust” of his fellow Americans who disagree with President Trump’s decision “knows no bounds.” But as freshman Congressman Dan Crenshaw of Texas, a veteran of the Afghanistan war, wrote: “The great irony of the ‘no more endless wars’ camp’s argument is that removing our small and cost-effective force from Northern Syria is causing more war, not less. Our presence there was not meant to engage in endless wars, it was there to deter further warfare.”

Amid Planned Power Outages in California A Deadly Fire Rages in LA

Los Angeles Wildfire Declared ‘Major Emergency’; Forces 100,000 to Evacuate, Closes Two Freeways

Explain to me how we are having planned power outages to combat a major fire, then a major fire breaks out! This is a false flag attempt to distract us from the real news. The major arrests and corruption the Alliance has uncovered about the Deep State!

“That’s Been Happening” – DEVIN NUNES Claims Democrats Have been Working with Fired Ambassador Yovanovich Before Her Scheduled Testimony

Rep. Devin Nunes (D-CA) went on with America’s Newsroom on Friday before the scheduled testimony of fired Ukrainian Ambassador Marie Yovanovich before the House Intelligence Committee.

Nunes told FOX News that the fired ambassador was working with Democrats before her testimony today.

Rep. Devin Nunes: It was well known. We’ve had both former officials and current officials come and tell us that this was a very partisan ambassador. This was somebody who was not only supporting the Clintons, when Clinton was running, telling the people that Clinton was going to win, prognosticating about it. But also once Trump won was badmouthing the Trump administration in Ukraine, to Ukrainians and State Department staff… We would want to get her on the record, did she support the Trump administration? Did she really say these negative things about the Trump administration? Was she looking at journalists? Was she monitoring journalists in the United States? These are all questions that we want answers to… My guess here is that this is someone who the Democrats have been coordinating with. Let’s not pretend that this ambassador hasn’t been working with the Democrats. That’s been happening.

Yesterday this happened

Then with no power and no way to warn people they were in danger

Disgusting lets hear what our Shady Criminal Governor Gavin Newsome has to say:

Crickets OF COURSE

One man died of cardiac arrest during the night and a firefighter suffered a minor eye injury, the fire department said, and at least 25 homes have been damaged.

The fire was still raging as of 8 a.m. and had grown to become the state’s second largest fire at more than 4,700 acres with no containment, the fire department said. The fire is growing at an estimated 800 acres per hour, Chief Ralph Terrazas of the L.A. Fire Department said.

The U.S. Forest Service joined the unified command Friday morning as the fire is now burning in the Angeles National Forest, according to a news release.

The forest service, L.A. City Fire Department and L.A. County Fire Department continue to battle the blaze, according to the release.

Interstate 210 is closed in both directions between Interstates 5 and State Route 118, according to the California Highway Patrol. Interstate 5 is closed between Calgrove Boulevard in Santa Clarita and Roxford Street in Sylmar.

In Northern California, a prescribed burn in the Eldorado National Forest was declared a wildland fire Thursday afternoon after unfavorable weather conditions drove the fire faster than anticipated, the U.S. Forest Service said in a news release. Unfavorable weather conditions fueled the fire before crews could complete operations

“In anticipation of the upcoming strong winds, fire managers began building fireline and conducting firing operations to secure the fire perimeter,” the U.S. Forest Service said. “Unfavorable conditions over the past few days prevented crews from being able to complete the firing operations contributed tto the incident being declared a wildland fire.”

The prescribed burn began last week and is part of a “multi-year forest restoration project” to reintroduce fire to the forest in an effort to make more healthy and resilient, the U.S. Forest Service said.

By declaring it a wildfire, Cal Fire can now step in and provide resources for firefighting, according to the news release.

In another part of the state, Cal Fire continues to fight the state’s largest wildfire in Mariposa County, the Briceburg Fire, which has grown to 4,905 acres and is 30 percent contained.

Crews worked overnight to reinforce containment lines and began mop up operations within those lines this morning, Cal Fire said. Mandatory evacuations are still in effect and Yosemite National Park remains open.

Highway 140 is closed from Colorado Road to Savages Trading Post, Cal Fire said.

In Riverside County, the Sandalwood Fire, which ignited Thursday, is now 823 acres and 10 percent contained, Cal Fire said. At least 74 structures were destroyed.

This is scary and if you live in California its time to WAKE UP VOTE RED AND HELP US RECALL GAVIN NEWSOME

Resolution Introduced In House To Expel Nancy Pelosi

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., talks to reporters during her weekly news conference, on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, June 7, 2018. After several questions about President Donald Trump and his policies, Pelosi responded: The President said he was going to drain the swamp. He has become the swamp. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-LA) has introduced a resolution to expel Pelosi from the House.

House Democrats may be trying to ram through impeachment in secret with an anonymous whistleblower.

But although Republicans are outnumbered in the House, they are fighting back.

First, they filed a resolution to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA). The resolution has 61 co-sponsors at last count, with prominent names including the House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA).

Now, they’re also fighting back against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who allowed this travesty to get so far.

Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-LA) has introduced a resolution to expel Pelosi from the House.

From Fox News:

“Nancy Pelosi’s vicious crusade against our lawfully-elected President is nothing more than a politically-motivated witch hunt and it must be stopped,” Abraham said in a statement. “She has disgraced the people’s House and weaponized the Speaker’s gavel for her party’s political gain.”

Abraham added: “House Democrats spent nearly three years obsessed with election meddling only to dwarf any such efforts with their own deceitful plan to nullify the 2016 election and prevent President Trump from winning in 2020. I have introduced a resolution calling for her to be expelled from the House and for the Speaker’s Office to be vacated.”

The White House is fighting back as well.

They refused to let the U.S. EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland testify before a House panel and they sent a stern letter back to the House, making it clear they regarded the inquiry as illegitimate and unconstitutional.

“I would love to send Ambassador Sondland, a really good man and great American, to testify, but unfortunately he would be testifying before a totally compromised kangaroo court, where Republican’s rights have been taken away, and true facts are not allowed out for the public to see,” Trump wrote on Twitter. ….

@AdamSchiff of course immediately claimed the refusal constituted obstruction.

But Trump chastised Democrats calling what they were doing to the country “unthinkable.”

“It’s lucky that I’m the president,” he declared. “A lot of people said very few people could handle it. I sort of thrive on it,” Trump said Monday at the White House. “You can’t impeach a president for doing a great job. This is a scam.”

It’s about damn time the GOP is fighting back @savecalifornianow

Shawn Steele: GOP National for California, Explains Ballot Harvesting, Trump and; the Immigrant Influence on our Elections

Ballot harvesting in california voter fraud

What is ‘ballot harvesting’ and how was it used in California elections?

“Ballot harvesting” is political jargon for a practice in which organized workers or volunteers collect absentee ballots from certain voters and drop them off at a polling place or election office. Coined by California Republicans, the term carries a negative connotation to suggest improprieties and even election fraud. The conservative site called it the California Democrats’ “latest election-stealing tool.” The San Francisco Chronicle Editorial Board took a different view, calling it “a sinister-sounding way of saying their opponents turned out more votes than they did” in one recent editorial.

Is it legal?

In 2016, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law a change to Section 3017 of the Election Code that allows any person to collect a mail-in ballot from voters and turn in the mail ballot to a polling place or the registrar’s office. Prior law restricted the practice to just relatives of or those living in the same household as the voter.

While critics decry it as the practice of a “banana republic,” proponents of the change say it allows more eligible citizens to participate in elections across California. Here’s how the legislation spells out the practice:

(a) All vote by mail ballots cast under this division shall be voted on or before the day of the election. After marking the ballot, the vote by mail voter shall do any of the following: (1) return the ballot by mail or in person to the elections official from whom it came, (2) return the ballot in person to a member of a precinct board at a polling place within the jurisdiction, or (3) return the ballot to the elections official from whom it came at a vote by mail ballot drop-off location, if provided pursuant to Section 3025. However, a vote by mail voter who is unable to return the ballot may designate any person to return the ballot to the elections official from whom it came or to the precinct board at a polling place within the jurisdiction. The ballot must, however, be received by either the elections official from whom it came or the precinct board before the close of the polls on election day.

Democrats Passed Ballot Harvesting Law Legalizing Voter Fraud and Stole the Elections While Republicans Allow It

Democrats in California quietly passed a law allowing ballot harvesting in 2016, which allows party workers to go door-to-door and offering to deliver mail-in ballots on behalf of the voter.  California lost 7 out of 14 Republican House seats in this election cycle.  Ballot harvesting is illegal in most states. In Texas, New York and Pennsylvania they arrest people for ballot harvesting.  Conservative Orange County turned all blue after and unprecedented 250,000 Election Day vote-by-mail dropoff ballots were produced.  Candidates who won on Election Day later lost their races to Democrats.  The Democrats don’t even hide their blatant voter fraud anymore – they just pass laws to make election fixing legal and the Republican party just sits back and allows it.

The Communists Democrats in California quietly passed legislature in 2016 allowing ballot harvesting.

Very few people took notice when far left Governor Jerry Brown signed the changes in AB1921 into law two years ago. As a result, California lost 7 of its 14 Republican House seats this election cycle. Ballot harvesting is illegal in most states. In Texas, New York and Pennsylvania they arrest people for ballot harvesting.

Orange County, traditionally a conservative enclave in Southern California turned all blue after Democrats found hundreds of thousands of votes post election day. Republicans such as Mimi Walters, Dana Rohrabacher and Young Kim were all ahead election night only to lose their races after late ballots were counted.

The amount of mail-in ballots counted in Orange County were unprecedented – a whopping 250,000 ballots were produced in OC as a result of the new “ballot harvesting” law.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported: In Orange County alone, where every House seat went Democratic, “the number of Election Day vote-by-mail dropoffs was unprecedented — over 250,000,” Fred Whitaker, chairman of the county Republican Party, said in a note to supporters. “This is a direct result of ballot harvesting allowed under California law for the first time. That directly caused the switch from being ahead on election night to losing two weeks later.”

The voting system in California is so bad that a Democrat in California’s 21st district who was down by 6.4% on election night ended up winning three weeks later. The Democrats don’t even hide their blatant voter fraud anymore – they just pass laws to make election fixing legal and the Republican party just sits back and allows it.

The Daily Caller has more on this outrageous practice used by Democrats. The results drew the attention of House Speaker Paul Ryan.

“California just defies logic to me,” said Ryan at a Washington Post live event. “We were only down 26 seats the night of the election, and three weeks later, we lost basically every California contested race. This election system they have — I can’t begin to understand what ‘ballot harvesting’ is.” (RELATED: Bloomberg Drops Millions On California Dems Ahead Of Midterm Elections)

The stunning turnaround in California, of all states, can be attributed to several factors, as conservative critics like The Federalist’s Bre Payton wrote, but the most significant of those seemed to be the practice of “ballot harvesting.”

Passed as a barely noticed change in the state’s vote by mail procedures in 2016 and signed by then-Governor Jerry Brown, California’s AB 1921 allows voters to give any third party — not just a relative or someone living in the same household, as was previously the law — to collect and turn in anyone else’s completed ballot.

The amount of mail-in ballots counted in Orange County were unprecedented – a whopping 250,000 ballots were produced in OC as a result of the new “ballot harvesting” law.
